Thursday's GF Post will be late.
Tomorrow's post will be late because of a man flu ironically enough. I'm using Siri for this so I hope her she doesn't banana watermelon strawberry words

Review: Agent Carter "Time and Tide"
You know, I’m just glad that after this episode, I’ll rarely have to attempt to spell “Krzeminski” again. Proofreading these has been a pain in my butt.

Sketchbook: Green Goblin Misc.
Just a quick little somethin'-somethin' today while I work on a couple special things for the blog. June's coming up soon.
Back before this blog officially began, as some of you might know, I was going to do video reviews. It ended up falling through, but I put a lot of work into my Character Study title sequence, which included a quick sequence of sketches flipping on the screen. Here's one of them.

Review: Agent Carter "Bridge and Tunnel"
And so, we never see Van Ert after this episode. I can only hope he ended up taking the carrot, earning himself a new life in another country.
Although, sadly, he went back to his old ways and helped Slugworth develop his very own Scrum-diddly-umptious bar. |
Recap: Agent Carter "Bridge and Tunnel"
Gonna admit, I had no idea what the episode title "Bridge and Tunnel" was in reference to for the longest time. Then I realized that it could easily apply to the two ways of confronting a problem. Through, as in dealing with it head on (Tunnel), or over, as in avoiding it (Bridge).
As I was beginning to ponder this deeper meaning, I ended up doing a Google search for "bridge and tunnel"... and discovered that it was originally derogatory slang referring to people who commuted to Brooklyn from the surrounding area. Meaning that the title primarily referred to Peggy's civilian life, rather than her secret mission. Talk about overthinking it, huh?

But I guess not every title can be as straightforward as "Now is Not the End." |

From Teen Titans to Teen Titans GO!
I haven't even said a single thing about this show yet, and you probably already have something you want to say.
"Oh, great, yet another person giving this show undeserved crap."
"Don't do it! You have so much to live for!"
"Why are you covering this before Teen Titans?"
It's that kind of show; everyone who knows about it seems to have a very strong opinion. Which is why I'm doing a post about its history before I cover it for realsies.

Review: Agent Carter "Pilot," aka "Now is Not the End"
You know, I'm really glad Agent Carter was picked up for an eight episode run. If ABC had only ordered this pilot, and then decided not to continue, that would leave us with an episode called "Now is Not the End"... only for it to actually be the end.
That would just be cruel.

Recap: Agent Carter "Pilot," aka "Now is Not the End"
There's an old marketing saying.
"You don't sell the steak, you sell the sizzle."
Oftentimes, when people want to pitch a movie, or TV show, or what have you, they'll whip up what's called a "sizzle reel." Basically, a short little example of what people could expect from a full film/series. It often works much better than simply explaining the premise in words. It can work so well, in fact, that the Agent Carter One-Shot, while not intended as a sizzle reel, managed to get ABC to demand an Agent Carter series.
So let's begin the NewtCave's ongoing look at the return of Agent Carter.

Because calling this Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. prequel "Agents of the Scientific Strategic Reserve" was a bit of a mouthful. |

Agent Carter Recap Tomorrow
In my haste to find time to work on preparing the blog's pictures... I neglected to put my review notes into a coherent whole. Recap and Review go up tomorrow afternoon at the latest.

View Log: Deadpool (Spoiler Free!)
I find myself having difficulties talking about this movie.
I mean, I could talk about trivia, or examine the characters in depth, but that's not what these View Logs are for. When a film is in theatres, my main goal with these examinations is to go over my reactions to the film and talk about what bugged me, or what I thought worked and didn't work.
When I saw Deadpool... I had nothing to say.

Review: Gravity Falls "Irrational Treasure"
I don't know about the rest of you, but this episode's revelation that Santa Claus is the eternal President of the United States of America is pretty refreshing to me. I mean, now we don't have to worry about Trump vs. Clinton.
Although his stance on migrant elf workers is pretty controversial. |
Recap: Gravity Falls "Irrational Treasure"
Gravity Falls simply would not be complete without a government conspiracy episode. I mean, supernatural phenomena and government conspiracies go together so well that The X-Files became one of the longest-running sci-fi shows in history. Which is pretty impressive, considering the 50-plus years of Doctor Who.
Today, Gravity Falls stuffs The X-Files and National Treasure into a blender and slathers itself in the juicy remains.

Sorry, that description was a bit more visceral than it was in my head. |

Site News: March, 2016 announcements
First of all, yes, I'm still working on blog pictures. hopefully, they'll be back up by the end of the month.
Second, I'd like to apologize for everything going all SNAFU at the same time.
Now, usually, during March, I tend to look at things with a "green" theme, whether it be the Hulk, Green Lantern, et cetera. This year, I've decided instead to do a little something for Women's History Month.
Specifically, I'll be focusing on two of my favorite female characters.
I'll be continuing my ongoing look at the Marvel Cinematic Universe by beginning Season 1 of Agent Carter, and I'll be covering two Mabel-centric episodes of Gravity Falls. And, finally, I'll be beginning my long-promised look at Teen Titans GO!, although that really has nothing to do with Women's History Month.
But before that, I'll be looking at Mabel's quest to become serious in "Irrational Treasure."
See you then!

Sketchbook: Rend's Cunning Plan
Oh, goodness, this story brings back memories.
Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for the secret origin of my second D&D character, Rend the Steadfast.
