Review: Ultimate Spider-Man "Snow Day"

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if somebody's reading this on an actual Snow Day.

'Sup, Dawg. I heard you like Snow Days, so... and you know the rest.

You know what? I kind of liked this episode. At the very least, it was nice to see the Sandwich Club getting along, instead of their usual schtick.

Man, even Danny's yelling. He must have come down.
It was also nice to see some kind of repercussions for when the characters act like idiots.

"But on the other hand..."
This episode took a lot of its cues from "Doomed." You know, the other episode where the team breaks into the S.H.I.E.L.D. database and heads off to do something stupid.

"But on the other hand..."
This episode actually executed that plot better, in my opinion. When Doctor Doom is captured in the beginning of "Doomed," there's no way it's not a trap. Here, there's some relief when they escape Sandman Island, and a smidgen of genuine dread when Sandman comes back at the end.

"But on the other hand..."
The pacing suffers a bit, and Sandman is disposed of too quickly in the final fight.

"But on the other hand..."
The earlier fight scenes were good. A lot of times, I simply resort to saying "a fight breaks out" because little else is accomplished other than an exchange of punches. In this episode, the characters are fighting with goals in mind. Those goals either being getting back to the jet or preventing that from happening.

"But on the other hand..."
Nick Fury is shown to be the villain again. Look at the facts. Ordering the death of Venom, despite knowing that he's someone Spider-Man cares about? Manipulating the team by not giving away all the information? Double-crossing Taskmaster? Abandoning Sandman when he could easily be contained by a dang hourglass? Killing Aaron Reese? (And you can't convince me that didn't happen.)

Nick Fury is evil.

"But on the other hand..."
No. There is no other hand. Nick Fury is evil.

All in all, this was an enjoyable bit of fluff and filler. And you know what? It even gets a sequel down the line that I also like. So you know what? Yeah. I recommend this one. Perfect thing to watch on a Snow Day.

See you next time!

  1. C'mon! Fury is only doing this for the greater goo... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, no, I couldn't finish writing that with a straight face, I'm pretty sure THIS Fury only cares about himself, after all if he cared for the greater good he would have just imprisoned Sandman, but that would probably be a mark on his permanent record or something and he wouldn't be able to enter a good university, and then he would have to get a bad paid job at a McDonald's and would have never gotten married and... what was I talking about again?

  2. Personally, I really miss the John DiMaggio Sandman from Spectacular, but hey, that's just me.
